County Durham, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Steen Tinning closed with a 5- under 67 on Sunday and won the English Senior Open by one stroke.
Tinning finished at 17-under-par 199. This was his second win of the season and of his career on the European Senior Tour.
Santiago Luna fired a 6-under 66 to end one back at minus-16.
Tinning was two clear at the start of the round, and he birdied the third, while Luna birdied the second and sixth to get within one. Luna eagled the par-5 seventh, while Tinning made birdie there.
The duo was tied at 14-under, but Tinning moved ahead with a birdie on No. 8. There was a 2-shot swing in Luna's favor at 11 as Tinning made bogey and Luna drained a birdie try.
Tinning bounced back with his third eagle in three days at the 12th to move one ahead. Luna grabbed a piece of the lead with a birdie on 13. Tinning bogeyed 14 and Luna birdied 15 to move two clear.
Tinning came back with birdies at 16 and 17 to get to 17-under. Luna stumbled to a bogey on No. 17 to drop one back. When they both parred the last, Tinning was victorious.
Paul Eales also closed with a 66 to take third at 13-under 203, while Miguel Angel Martin shot 70 to end alone in fourth at minus-10.
