Tina Charles just wanted to come home and play alongside Cappie Pondexter.

The New York native was traded Monday night to the Liberty from Connecticut for Kelsey Bone, Alyssa Thomas and next year's first round pick in a blockbuster deal. Charles, who is from Queens, averaged 18.0 points and 10.1 rebounds last season.

The 2012 WNBA MVP gives the Liberty a solid post presence to go along with All-Star guard Pondexter.

Charles says coming to New York gives her the best chance to win a title after falling short with the Sun.

She'll add another marquee player when the Liberty move back home to Madison Square Garden this summer. They spent the last three seasons in New Jersey while MSG was renovated.
