DETROIT (Reuters) - Power-hitting infielder Jhonny Peralta has agreed a two-year contract to remain with the Detroit Tigers.
The $11.25 million deal includes a buyout figure should the club decide not to pick up an option for 2013, Major League Baseball's website (mlb.com) reported on Monday.
The 28-year-old from the Dominican Republic joined Detroit in a trade with the Cleveland Indians in July.
Peralta hit a combined 15 homers with 81 runs batted in during the 2010 season while batting for a .249 average.
Three times in his career he has surpassed 20 homers in a season.
