Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Tigers and pitcher Al Alburquerque have agreed to a one-year contract, avoiding salary arbitration.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but CBSSports.com reported it to be worth $1.725 million.

Alburquerque was 3-1 with a 2.51 ERA in a career-high 72 games last season. He struck out 63 in 57 1/3 innings.

The 28-year-old right-hander owns a career record of 13-5 with a 2.82 ERA and 218 strikeouts in 174 big league games, all out of the bullpen, since making his debut with the Tigers in 2011.
