Canadian quartet The Tenors sang 'O Canada' Tuesday at Petco Park prior to the MLB All-Star Game, and one member of the group named Remigio Pereira caused controversy by changing a lyric of the anthem to support the All Lives Matter movement.
Pereira was expected to sing "with glowing hearts we see thee rise. The true north strong and free," but instead changed the words to "we're all brothers and sisters. All lives matter to the great" before the other three members joined in. Pereira also held up a small sign that read "All Lives Matter."
The Tenors issued a statement after the performance and said that Pereira acted as a "lone wolf," and that he has been removed from the group.
Pereira explained his actions on his own personal Twitter account.
