Houston Texans running back Arian Foster was a spectator for the season opener against Indianapolis because of his hamstring injury, but he wasn't missed.

Derrick Ward started in Foster's place and Ben Tate did most of the work in Houston's 34-7 rout at Reliant Stadium. Tate ran for 116 yards and a touchdown, while Ward added 39 yards on 11 carries with a score.

The hamstring injury kept Foster out of practice all week.

Foster led the league in rushing last season with 1,616 yards to go along with 18 touchdowns. He also totaled 2,220 yards from scrimmage.
