Tyler Tettleton threw for two touchdowns as Ohio opened Mid-American Conference play with a 43-3 victory over Akron on Saturday.

Ohio (4-1, 1-0 Mid-American) started slow but scored 21 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a 30-3 halftime lead.

Tettleton finished the game with 171 total yards on 14-of-21 passing. Donte Foster was his top receiver as he pulled in four passes for 76 yards and one touchdown.

Kyle Pohl lead Akron (1-5, 0-2), throwing for 101 yards. Robert Stein's 31-yard field goal was Akron's only score.

The Bobcat defense stymied the Zips all day, limiting Akron to 157 total yards, and sacking Pohl eight times for total losses of 45 yards. Antwa Crutcher and Ty Branz combined for 13 tackles and 3 sacks to lead the Ohio defense. Tarell Basham also had two sacks.
