Syracuse, NY – Syracuse center Fab Melo will miss the next ranked Orange, including Saturday's contest at Notre Dame.
The school's release did not include details, citing federal student privacy laws.
Melo started each of Syracuse's first 20 games this season and was averaging 7.2 points with a team-best 5.7 rebounds. He will also sit out Monday's game at Cincinnati.
Syracuse also announced that seldom-used junior forward Mookie Jones has left school for personal reasons. Jones had appeared in seven games this season.
