Stockholm, Sweden – Sweden center back Daniel Majstorovic is expected to miss the Euro 2012 finals after tearing knee ligaments in training Tuesday.
The 34-year-old Majstorovic, who also plays for Scottish club Celtic, was hurt in the closing stages of training when Anders Svensson fell on his leg.
"I didn't think it was so serious because Daniel didn't say a word," Sweden coach Erik Hamren said according to UEFA, "but apparently it was."
Tests confirmed torn ligaments and Hamren said, "it's painful for all of us, but most of all for Daniel."
Majstorovic had only recently returned from eight weeks on the sideline with a fractured cheekbone.
Sweden opens the Euro finals June 11 against co-host Ukraine. Sweden will also play England and France in the group stage.
