Super Bowl XLIX scoreless after one quarter

Glendale, AZ ( - Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane intercepted Tom Brady at the goal line on the New England Patriots' second drive to keep Super Bowl XLIX scoreless after one quarter.

After the Patriots marched from their own 32-yard line to the Seattle 10 on a series that consumed nearly eight minutes, Brady threw an ill-advised pass while under pressure that Lane snared on a 3rd-and-6 play to thwart the game's first scoring opportunity.

New England held the ball for more than 11 minutes in the opening quarter, with the Seahawks running just five plays.

The Seahawks are attempting to become the first repeat champion since the Patriots won back-to-back titles in 2003 and 2004, while Russell Wilson is bidding to be the only quarterback to win a Super Bowl in two of his first three seasons.

Brady, making a record sixth Super Bowl start at quarterback, will join Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw as the lone signal-callers to win the game four times with a victory.
