London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Fulham netted four unanswered goals on Monday to claim a comfortable 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the latest edition of the London derby.
Coming into the match, Martin Jol's side had been struggling mightily with just two wins and seven points through eight matches, but facing one of their London rivals proved to be all they needed.
It was Palace, however, that opened the scoring just seven minutes in when Southampton loanee Jason Punchoen lofted a cross into the penalty area that was nodded home by Adrian Mariappa.
But the Cottagers found an equalizer in the 19th minute via a spectacular individual effort from Pajtim Kasami, who controlled a long ball with his chest and volleyed it into the top left corner with a right-footed strike.
The visitors then grabbed the lead in first-half stoppage time when a free kick from just outside the area deflected off the Crystal Palace wall and fell to Steve Sidwell, who ripped it home with another volley to give Fulham the lead at the break.
Five minutes after the intermission, Fulham made it 3-1 when Dimitar Berbatov ran unmarked onto a corner kick and nodded home his first goal of the season before Philippe Senderos finished the rout with another volleyed goal six minutes later.
The result sees the Cottagers up to 10 points, three clear of the drop zone, while Palace suffer their seventh defeat of the campaign to remain on three points.
