(SportsNetwork.com) - The San Antonio Spurs would like to end their three-game road trip on a high note Wednesday against the Charlotte Hornets.

The Spurs defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves over the weekend to start the road trip and won two straight and four of five games. After a few days rest, the Spurs headed to the nation's capital on Tuesday and dropped a 101-93 decision to the Washington Wizards.

Wizards guard John Wall poured in 25 points and Tony Parker countered with 14 points for San Antonio, which shot 39.6 percent and gave up 31 points in the first quarter. Patty Mills had 12 points, Tim Duncan ended with 11 and 12 rebounds, and both Tiago Splitter and Danny Green scored 11 points.

"You have to give a lot of credit to Washington," said Parker. "They played good defense, they made the stops that they needed at the end."

San Antonio is still without Kawhi Leonard (hand) and Marco Belinelli is hampered by a groin issue. Manu Ginobili has been bothered by back spasms.

The Spurs are 10-10 on the road and will return to the Alamo City to host Portland and Utah next.

Duncan leads all active players in double-doubles and recorded the 815th of his career last night, passing Karl Malone (814) for fifth all-time. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is next on the list with 885.

Charlotte will try to run its winning streak to six games Wednesday in the opener of a four-game homestand versus the Spurs, Indiana Pacers, Timberwolves and Miami Heat.

The Hornets made it a season-high five wins in a row with Saturday's 110-82 demolition of the lowly New York Knicks, as Kemba Walker continued to impress with 28 points and Bismack Biyombo ended with 14 and 12 rebounds. Walker is averaging 30.2 points in his last five games.

"Right now we're clicking," Walker said.

P.J. Hairston and Brian Roberts scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, and the Hornets made 50 percent from the field.

Charlotte's win streak comes on the heels of losing five straight. It last won six in a row back in 2009-10 and is averaging 102.6 ppg during the run. The Hornets have held opponents under 100 points in the previous five games.

Lance Stephenson is expected back on Wednesday and hasn't played for the Hornets since Dec. 17 because of a pelvis injury. The team is 9-5 without him. Stephenson hasn't produced many encouraging headlines in his first season in Charlotte and is posting an average of 10.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists.

The Hornets and Spurs will play the first of two meetings this season and are slated to tangle Jan. 28 in the Alamo City. San Antonio took both games against Charlotte last season and is unbeaten in the last seven encounters between the teams.

San Antonio leads the all-time series with Charlotte, 17-2.
