Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant is facing a one-year suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. FOX Sports Insider Mike Garafolo reports Bryant is appealing.
Bryant, 24, caught 50 passes for 765 yards and six touchdowns in 11 games (five starts) during the regular season, and 14 passes for 183 yards and a TD in two playoff games. He missed the first four regular-season games while serving a suspension for his first violation of the policy.
The Steelers ranked third in the NFL with an average of 287.7 passing yards per game last season, so Bryant's loss would be a big one. Fellow wideout Antonio Brown led the league with 136 receptions last season (for 1,834 yards and 10 TDs). And Pittsburgh just signed free-agent tight end Ladarius Green to replace the retired Heath Miller.
As a rookie in 2014, Bryant caught 26 passes for 549 yards and eight TDs in all games (all starts).
Bryant was a fourth-round pick in the 2014 draft.
