After consistently adding commitments over the past month, South Carolina experienced two defections to its 2016 recruiting class on Monday.
Longtime commitments Tre Jackson and JaCorey Morris have reneged on their pledges. The decommitments leave South Carolina's current class at 23 members.
Jackson -- the son of former Florida player Jack Jackson -- opted to pledge to South Carolina under the Steve Spurrier regime. Jackson's father played for Spurrier during his time at Florida. However, the New Orleans native decided to open things up with less than two weeks until signing day.
Morris originally chose South Carolina over offers from Ole Miss, Clemson, and Mississippi State. With depth concerns at the linebacker position, the loss of Morris could prove to be most costly.
However, it must be said both of these recruits committed to the program under the former coaching staff. It's entirely possible to believe neither fit under new head coach Will Muschamp's long-term plans -- particularly from a schematic standpoint.
