The St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to a five-year deal with free-agent right-hander Mike Leake, FOX Sports Insider Ken Rosenthal first reported Tuesday.
Leake, 28, went 11-10 with a 3.70 ERA and 119 strikeouts in 30 starts (192 innings) for the Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants in 2015. In his six-season major-league career, he is 64-52 with a 3.88 ERA and a 6.1 K/9 ratio.
The addition of Leake will fill one of the voids in St. Louis' rotation. The team lost right-hander Lance Lynn for the 2016 season because of Tommy John surgery and lost right-hander John Lackey in free agency to the Chicago Cubs.
