Mayfield, a juniorm walk-on, earned the top Big 12 offensive honor, joining Sam Bradford, Jason White and Josh Heupel as other Sooners who have won the award. Mayfield accounted for 42 touchdowns this season.

Westbrook, also a junior, is the third OU player to take the newcomer honor, along with Adrian Peterson and Heupel.

In addition, Mayfield was named to the Big 12's first team along with running back Samaje Perine, receiver Sterling Shepard, linemen Ty Darlington and Nila Kasitati.

On defense, the Sooners were represented by first team selections, Eric Striker at linebacker, Charles Tapper on the defensive line, linebacker Dominique Alexander and cornerback Zack Sanchez.
