SAN ANTONIO – Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg says he hasn't decided who will replace forward Georges Niang in the starting lineup now that his star sophomore is out with a broken foot.
Hoiberg said Saturday that the Cyclones can't replace their third-leading scorer with just one player. No. 3 seed Iowa State plays sixth-seeded North Carolina on Sunday in the third round of the East Regional.
Niang broke his foot in Friday's night win over North Carolina Central. Losing the 6-foot-7 sophomore creates tough matchups for Iowa State against the tall and athletic Tar Heels.
The Cyclones (27-11) haven't reached the round of 16 since 2000. North Carolina (24-9) fell in the third round last year, but the Tar Heels have never exited this early in consecutive seasons under coach Roy Williams.
