SOCHI, Russia – The Russian men's hockey team was supposed to be the star of the Sochi show. Instead, after a 3-1 loss to Finland on their home soil, Russia won't even get a medal for the third straight Olympics.
The disappointment could be seen and felt across Olympic Park on Wednesday. Associated Press photographer Mark Humphrey captures Russia's Anton Belov hunched over just after the final whistle, while Viktor Tikhonov looks on in stunned disbelief.
In the next photo, by AP's Morry Gash, a Russian fan buries her face in her hands, unable to watch the game on a big screen television outside the arena.
