Chicharito wound up in the middle of controversy on Sunday.

Javier Hernandez came off the bench to rescue Manchester United, which managed to walk out of Stamford Bridge with a 3-2 victory over nine-man Chelsea.

The Mexican international striker appeared to be offside when he scored in the 75th minute as he tapped in Rafael's cross while standing just about on the goal line.

United, which recorded its first win at Chelsea in 10 years, saw a two-goal lead vanish by a valiant comeback by the Blues.

After the goal, Hernandez looked to check for the assistant referee's flag. Asked by Sky Sports on whether he thought he was offside, Chicharito replied, "Probably. I think it's a habit that I have to look to the linesman."

But the game official did not have his flag up to signify offside and the goal stood, although Chelsea and its supporters would have claimed otherwise.

Chelsea certainly wasn't helped by the fact that Branislva Ivanovic and Ferando Torres were red-carded by referee Mark Clattenburg in the second half.

"We don't care. We win, we have the three points," Hernandez told Sky Sports. "That was the only thing we had on our mind. Probably for some people it was very controversial, for other people not.

"For us, we won the three points and it is very difficult to come here to Stamford Bridge and take the three points, and we're very lucky and happy with that."

Hernandez added:  "It was a really difficult game because the final part of the first half they came on, but we were lucky we scored the last goal. Every time we play with our rivals to win the Premier League, every game is tough, so we're very happy we got the three points."

United had grabbed the lead via a David Luiz own goal in the fourth minute and a Robin van Persie goal in the 12th minute.

Chelsea, however, refused to wilt as Spanish international Juan Mata struck on a free kick in the 44th minute and Ramires headed home the equalizer nine minutes later, setting up Hernandez for his controversial goal.

ENGLAND

Luis Suarez

What comes around, goes around for the Uruguayan star striker. Suarez wound up in the middle of all of Liverpool's goals -- those counted and not counted -- in its 2-2 draw against Merseyside rival Everton. Suarez did a theatrical celebration dive in front of Everton manager David Moyes after his shot was turned into an own goal by Leighton Baines in the 14th minute. He added another five minutes later to give Liverpool a 2-0 lead.

Moyes, who had had been critical of Suarez's diving in the past, actually liked the celebration, although he wasn't as happy with the Uruguayan after he hit the leg of defender Sylvain Distin in the second half. "I thought it was great, I would probably have done the same, but he is going to have to dive in front of a lot of managers now," Moyes told reporters. "He was a very lucky man to stay on the park because of his tackle."

After Everton rallied to tie, Suarez had the potential game-winning goal in stoppage time disallowed because of an offside call.

"The goal at the end was clearly a goal and we are disappointed not to get it," Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers told the BBC. "I think the linesman gave it but everyone in the ground thought it was a goal. That should have been a goal and an outstanding hat-trick for Luis Suarez."

Carlos Tevez

Tevez saved Manchester City's bacon in its 1-0 home win over Swansea City. The Argentine international tallied in the 61st minute.

Bryan Ruiz, Hugo Rodallega

The Costa Rican international came off the bench to spark Fulham, which rallied from a one-goal deficit, but wound up with a wild 3-3 draw with host Reading. Ruiz, who replaced Colombian Hugo Rodallega in the 58th minute, found the back of the net three minutes later. He took a Damien Duff pass and blasted a shot from the edge of the penalty area for a 1-1 tie. Ruiz was returning from an injury. “Bryan was probably one of our best players this season but then he got injured,” Fulham manager Martin Jol told the club's website. “But he’s the one who can create chances with a killer pass as he has great vision. Maybe he should play from the start next week.”

SPAIN

Lionel Messi, David Villa

Another game, another milestone for the great Messi as the Argentine scored twice in Barcelona's 5-0 rout at Rayo Vallecano to give him 301 career goals. After Villa, a Spanish international, gave Barca a 1-0 halftime lead, Messi doubled the lead in the 48th minute. Xavi, Cesc Fabregas and Messi again found the back of the net. Barcelona remained tied with Atletico Madrid atop La Liga. For the record, the 25-year-old Messi has scored 270 for his club, 31 for his country. "We are delighted for Lionel," Barca coach Tito Vilanova said. "He has scored a couple of goals but I prefer to remember the moment when he ran 30 meters to help out in defense in the 89th minute. I love the goals, but I like this more."

Radamel Falcao

The Colombian striker continued his lethal goal-scoring with his 10th goal of the season in a 3-1 win over last-place Osasuna, which allowed Atletico Madrid remained tied with Barcelona. Falcao volleyed the ball into the net for the visitors' third goal in the 73rd minute as he tallied for the 11th successive match. Atletico has won eighth consecutive games.

Gonzalo Higuain

The Argentine international striker and Cristiano Ronaldo each bagged a brace as Real Madrid recorded a 5-0 win over Real Mallorca. Higuain gave Real all the scoring it needed as he took advantage of a defensive error for a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute. He set up Ronaldo for the second score before both players scored off counterattacks in the second half.

Gustavo Cabral

The Argentine defender was given his marching order after a second yellow card in the 52nd minute, but Deportivo Coruna could not take advantage of the extra player and settled for a 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo.

ITALY

Diego Milito, Esteban Cambiasso

The Argentine duo was devastating in the second half for Inter Milan in its 3-1 road triumph over Bologna. Milito struck in the 53rd minute to give Inter a 2-0 lead before Nicolo Cherubin sliced it in half five minutes later. But Cambiasso tallied in the 64th minute to give Inter some breathing room.

Arturo Vidal

The Chilean gave visiting Juventus all the scoring it needed in the 57th minute in its 1-0 win at Catania.

Matias Fernandez

Fernandez missed a penalty kick in the 27th minute, but fortunately for the Chilean, it wasn't needed as Fiorentina recorded a 2-0 home win over Lazio.

Erik Lamela

It seemed that no lead was safe this weekend. the Argentine midfielder struck twice in the first half to give Roma a two-goal lead in what turned into a 3-2 loss to Udinese. But Udinese stormed back as Maurizio Domizzi sliced the lead in half before the interval before Antonio Di Natale struck for a second-half brace, including a penalty kick, to cap the comeback.

FRANCE

Guillermo Ochoa

In what should have been a romp turned into a nightmare and a 4-4 away draw for A.C. Ajaccio and the Mexican international goalkeeper. Ajaccio cruised to a 4-1 halftime advantage, but could not hold on to the three-goal bulge in the second half in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday. Alain Traore connected for the equalizer four minutes into stoppage time.

Carlos Sanchez

Sanchez, a Colombian, did not help matters with a red card in Valenciennes' 2-1 road loss to Lille. After the hosts grabbed a 1-0 lead, Sanchez was awarded his second yellow card in the 28th minute. Dimitri Payet doubled the deficit in the 41st minute.

PORTUGAL

Pablo Olivera

The Uruguayan helped Moreirense a 2-0 lead with a goal in the 35th minute, but the team could not hold it in what became a 2-2 away tie with Olhanense.

Jackson Martinez

The Colombian striker helped Porto overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit as he and Silvestre Varela scored a pair of quick goals early in the second half in a 2-1 triumph over Estoril.

GERMANY

Jefferson Farfan

The Peruvian tallied the lone goal in the 77th minute to lift Schalke 04 to a 1-0 win over visiting Nuremberg. The victory completed a memorable week in which Schalke defeated Dortmund and Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League.

BELGIUM

Ignacio Gonzalez

Gonzalez, a Uruguayan, struck for the game-winner early in the second half for Standard Liege in its 2-1 road win over Cercle Brugge.

ARGENTINA

UNITED STATES

Federico Higuain

Higuain, the older brother of Real standout and Argentine Gonzalo Higuain, scored a brace for the Columbus Crew in its 2-1 victory over Toronto FC in the season finale for both teams. Higuain, who tallied in the 17th minute, converted a penalty kick in the 62nd minute after he was tackled by Terry Dunfield in the penalty area.

Eduardo Sebrango

In what could have been the final game of his professional  career, the former Cuban international striker played the final 11 minutes of the Montreal Impact's 1-0 loss to the New England Revolution. Sebrango, 39, who left Cuba to marry a Canadian woman in 1999, replaced Andrew Wenger in the 79th minute in the Major League Soccer regular-season finale for both teams.  Sebrango played with several teams in the A-League, including the Vancouver 86ers, Rochester Rhinos, Hershey Wildcats, Montreal Impact and Vancouver Whitecaps.
