Snow threatening weekend schedule in Italy

Heavy snow in Italy is threatening to wreak havoc with the 22nd round of Serie A fixtures this weekend as one match has already been postponed and others have been moved.

Four midweek matches were postponed due to winter weather and Saturday's contest between second-from-the-bottom Cesena and Catania has already been postponed.

Inter Milan's trip to Roma, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, has been moved to Sunday, leaving no matches in Serie A for Saturday.

AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani has already written a letter to the league president urging him to postpone Milan's match against Napoli. But assuming all fixtures go ahead on Sunday, the Rossoneri's contest will be one of the headlining matches.

Milan missed a chance to take over the top spot in Serie A on Wednesday as the club sustained a 2-0 loss to Lazio, one day after Juventus had its match with Parma postponed.

The result leaves Milan one point back of Juve, which hosts Siena on Sunday.

Napoli will be trying to snap a four-game winless streak when the club visits the San Siro with the visitors arriving in seventh place.

Udinese closed to within three points of the top spot after a 2-1 win over Lecce on Wednesday and the club will try for a third win in four games with a trip to Fiorentina.

Genoa and Lazio will kick off first this weekend with the capital side seeking a fourth win in five games to maintain a place in the top four.

Inter and Roma enter their clash at the Stadio Olimpico with the Nerazzurri holding a five-point edge on the hosts, who have a game in hand, while mid- table sides Chievo and Parma clash with three points separating them.

Sunday's other matches feature an important relegation battle between Lecce and Bologna, last-place Novara tries to snap a five-game losing skid at home against Cagliari and Palermo hosts Atalanta with the hosts claiming seven points from their last three games.
