Des Smyth carded a 4-under 68 on Sunday and hung on for a 1-stroke win at the Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters.

Smyth finished his fifth European Senior Tour title at 10-under-par 206 on the Duke's Course at Woburn Golf Club. He also won this crown in 2010.

The Irishman birdied the first, then carded back-to-back birdies at four and five. He tripped to a bogey on No. 6 and made the turn at 8-under. Smyth birdied the first two holes on the back nine, then parred the last seven to hang on for the win.

Peter Fowler birdied the final two holes for a 5-under 67, which left him alone in second at minus-9. Mark James took third at 8-under-par 208 after a final-round 67. Andrew Sherborne (69) ended in fourth at minus-6.

Juan Quiros birdied the first two holes to jump into the lead at minus-8. He faltered to a bogey on the fourth, then birdied five and six to move to back into the lead at 9-under.

However, Quiros had four bogeys on the back nine that dropped him into a share of fifth at 5-under-par 211. He was joined there by Miguel Angel Martin (67) as well as Ross Drummond (70), and Senior PGA and U.S. Senior Open champion Roger Chapman (69).
