Marquinho capped an otherwise tame opening period with the first goal of the match, putting Roma in front three minutes before the break.

Napoli got on equal terms shortly after halftime as Juan Zuniga sent a rocket into the far side netting in the 49th minute.

Edinson Cavani gave the visitors the lead with a similar strike, latching on to a through ball before cutting it back onto his right foot and curling a brilliant effort to the far post.

Napoli thought it had done enough to get a vital win, but Simplicio's later heroics saw the two sides take a point apiece.

The draw sees Roma avoid a third straight defeat while helping Napoli move into third place it sits tied on 55 points with Lazio.
