Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Fred VanVleet had 14 points, 10 assists and six rebounds as No. 15 Wichita State defeated Loyola-Chicago 67-53 on Sunday.

Tekele Cotton netted 16 points and Ron Baker added 15 for the Shockers (14-2, 4-0 MVC), who have won four straight games.

Earl Peterson posted 13 points to lead Loyola-Chicago (12-4, 2-2), which has dropped two of its last three contests.

The Ramblers led 28-23 at the break, but the Shockers began the second half on an 18-3 run to seize control.

Cotton nailed consecutive 3-pointers during the surge, which was capped on four straight points from VanVleet for a 41-31 Wichita State advantage with 12:30 remaining.

Loyola-Chicago never got closer than seven the rest of the way.

Earlier, Wichita State raced off to a 13-6 start, but the Ramblers closed the opening half on a 13-2 burst for their five-point margin heading into the locker room.

Wichita State, which outscored the Ramblers 44-25 in the second half, shot 71.4 percent (15-of-21) over the final 20 minutes. The Shockers made 54.3 percent (25-of-46) from the field overall ... The Ramblers shot 37 percent (17-of-46) from the floor.
