Shippensburg quarterback Zach Zulli has been named the recipient of the 2012 Harlon Hill Award honoring the nation's top player in Division II football.

Zulli earned the honor after tying a Division II record by throwing for 54 touchdown passes in addition to amassing 4,747 yards and completing 62.8 percent of his attempts. The junior signal-caller had a hand in 56 touchdowns for a total of 336 points, both of which established new Division II season marks.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division Player of the Year finished with 202 points in voting by Division II sports information directors to best a pair of running back finalists, senior Michael Hill from Missouri Western State and junior Franklyn Quiteh of Bloomsburg.

Hill placed second in the balloting with 138 points, with Quiteh garnering 101 points.
