Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Brent Burns had one goal and one assist as the San Jose Sharks cruised to a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

Matt Pelech, Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Patrick Marleau also scored for the Sharks, who improved to 4-0 this season. Antti Niemi made 25 saves in the win.

"There weren't any freebies. A good one for us to play in," San Jose head coach Todd McClellan said.

Rookie Tomas Hertl, who scored four goals in San Jose's 9-2 thrashing of the New York Rangers on Tuesday, did not record a point.

Mike Santorelli scored a goal and Roberto Luongo made 25 saves for the Canucks, whose only two losses this season have come to the Sharks.

"Against a team like that you got to play 60 minutes if you want to give yourself a chance," Luongo said.

Burns skated into the Vancouver zone and passed the puck to Vlasic at the point. Vlasic quickly unleashed a writer past Luongo to make it 1-0 with just under eight minutes left in the opening period.

Later in the frame, James Sheppard corralled a loose puck behind the net. Pelech crashed towards the net and took Sheppard's pass and sent the disc past Luongo for a 2-0 lead.

Santorelli got the Canucks on the boards after deflecting Ryan Stanton's shot in traffic midway through the middle session.

Marleau, though, answered back just 1 1/2 minutes later with a slapshot from the left wing.

Burns capped the scoring with a wrist shot with 2:19 remaining.
