Ashburn, VA – Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said quarterback Robert Griffin III had no setbacks as he continues to recover from a knee injury that kept him out of last week's game against Cleveland.
Shanahan said doctors have yet to clear Griffin for this Sunday's game against Philadelphia, but indicated that the rookie star will be in the lineup if he continues to progress without problems.
Griffin was a full participant in practice for a second straight day Thursday.
After suffering a Grade I sprain of the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee against Baltimore two weeks ago, Griffin practiced only on a limited basis last week and was held out of the contest against Cleveland. He returned to practice Wednesday.
Fellow rookie Kirk Cousins was a more than adequate replacement last week, throwing for 329 yards with two touchdowns in his first NFL start to lead Washington to a 38-21 win.
The Redskins have won five in a row to move into a share of first place in the NFC East with both Dallas and the New York Giants at 8-6.
