Seville, Spain – Sevilla goalkeeper Javi Varas signed a two- year contract extension with the club on Wednesday, tying him to the Andalusian side until June 2015.
Varas has started all six of Sevilla's league matches this season, recording four clean sheets, and his new deal contains a buy-out clause of $27 million.
"It's an important day for me and my family," Varas told the club's official website. "What has led to this situation is my work and my professionalism and I thank the club for rewarding me for the job I've done and for keeping confidence in me."
The 29-year-old made 21 appearances in La Liga last season while sharing time with Andres Palop.
