Carlsbad, CA – Second-seeded Pole Agnieszka Radwanska earned a straight-set victory Thursday in second-round action at the $795,000 Southern California Open.
Radwanska, who titled here two years ago and was the runner-up in 2010, downed Russian Daniela Hantuchova 6-3, 6-3 on the hardcourts at La Costa Resort and Spa.
Urszula Radwanska also advanced Thursday, upending sixth-seeded Serbian Jelena Jankovic by a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 margin. The unseeded Pole will take on top-seed Victoria Azarenka in the quarterfinals.
Former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic moved on with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 triumph over American qualifier Coco Vandeweghe, while the other second-round matchup from Thursday saw French journeywoman Virginie Razzano oust eighth-seeded Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro 6-1, 6-4.
The 2013 Carlsbad titlist will claim $125,000.
