In May, Seattle Seahawks' defensive tackle Jesse Williams was diagnosed with papillary type 2 cancer, and the team announced he would undergo kidney surgery.
"Although disappointing, I am a fighter and will handle this," Williams said at the time, via the team website. "I am going to focus on my health and fighting this battle with a return to football as my ultimate goal. Thank you for your thoughts and support. Go Hawks!"
Fast forward two months and it appears all has gone well in Williams' recovery. To raise cancer awareness, Williams climbed 832 steps to the top of the Space Needle.
Williams was drafted in the fifth round by the Seahawks in the 2013 NFL Draft. However, he didn't play a single down during his rookie campaign due to a knee injury. During the 2014 season, Williams was sidelined for the same injury, and ultimately, Seattle waived him in March 2015. He was re-signed, though, one month later.
