When the Seahawks acquired Jimmy Graham in the offseason, they parted with a key piece of their offensive line: Max Unger.
After Week 1, the loss of Unger against a ferocious Rams defensive front was only magnified.
Russell Wilson was hurried, hit, knocked out of rhythm all game long; the offensive line failed to adequately protect him.
Per Pro Football Focus: "Only center Drew Nowak -- ironically, the player replacing Max Unger -- avoided a heavy negative grade versus St. Louis, while the other four combined for an astounding -26.3 grade, or an average of -6.6 between them."
Altogether, the Rams defensive line dominated, totaling nine quarterback hits, seven tackles for loss and six sacks.
There's no doubt Wilson's ability to improvise is what makes him great.
But if the line can hardly hold their blocks moving forward, Jimmy Graham's presence as a pass-catcher is negated (should he be forced to block more).
Potentially, this could be a bigger issue further down the road if the Seahawks offensive line cannot come together.
