Gelsenkirchen, Germany – Schalke has acquired Nigeria striker Chinedu Obasi from Hoffenheim on loan for the rest of the Bundesliga season.
Obasi, 25, has not scored in 13 appearances for Hoffenheim this season. He has made 65 Bundesliga appearances, and scored 13 goals during his career.
"He's a quick and versatile attacking player," Schalke coach Horst Heldt said. "On top of that he's also eligible to play for us in the Europa League."
Schalke is third in the Bundesliga at the winter break, and has also advanced to the last 32 of the Europa League.
