Saint Joseph's snaps skid against Temple

Langston Galloway dropped in 22 points as game losing streak against No. 22 Temple with an 72 decision at Hagan Arena.

Carl Jones and Ronald Roberts Jr. added 18 points apiece, while Halil Kanacevic contributed 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Hawks (19-11, 9-6 A-10), who had not beaten the Owls since January 26, 2008.

Ramone Moore and Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson each netted 15 points to pace Temple (22-6, 11-3), which had its 11-game win streak snapped.

Michael Eric had 14 points and 14 boards in a losing effort.

After Galloway opened the game with a jumper, Temple reeled off eight of the next 11 points to take an 8-5 lead with 14:44 remaining in the first half.

Saint Joseph's, though, used the long ball to respond with a 16-8 run to jump ahead, 21-16.

Kanacevic made one three-pointer and Galloway dropped in back-to-back shots from beyond the arc around a Hollis-Jefferson dunk in the Hawks' spurt.

Anthony Lee's layup stopped the run and closed the gap to three, but the Hawks reeled off the game's next 11 points to take a 32-18 advantage with just under five minutes left in the half.

However, the Owls closed out the first half with a 14-5 swing that included five straight points by Khalif Wyatt to trail, 37-32, at the break.

Temple used an early 11-2 run in the second half to take its first lead since the opening minutes of the first, 47-44.

But a Kanacevic layup followed by a Jones three-pointer put the Hawks back on top and the Owls never led again.

A brief 7-3 spurt by Temple brought them within one, 62-61, with a little over eight minutes remaining in the game before Saint Joseph's used a 16-4 run to put the game away.
