Sabres' Leino sidelined with fractured rib
Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Buffalo Sabres forward Ville Leino will be out indefinitely after suffering a cracked rib.
Sabres coach Ron Rolston reported the news on Thursday, one day after Leino suffered the injury in a season-opening 2-1 loss at Detroit.
Johan Larsson will take Leino's place during Friday's home opener against the Ottawa Senators.
Despite being signed to a six-year, $27 million free-agent contract in July of 2011, the 29-year-old Leino has been beset by injuries since arriving in western New York, totaling just 10 goals and 31 points in 80 games over parts of three seasons.
