CHICAGO (Reuters) - Baltimore's rookie starter Zach Britton delivered another strong outing to lead the Orioles to a 6-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.
The 23-year-old left-hander allowed one run in six innings to win his third straight start and improve to 5-1 on the season.
"It all comes back to having confidence in my defense," Britton told reporters after he was removed from the game because of a callus on his finger that he said was not of serious concern.
"I didn't have my good stuff, but I just threw it over the plate and let them hit to the guys and let them make the plays."
Chicago (10-19) scored runs in the fifth and seventh innings and got a two-run homer from Adam Dunn in the eighth to pull them within two runs.
Baltimore closer Kevin Gregg pitched the ninth and sealed the win with his fifth save of the season.
The White Sox have lost five straight and 15 of their last 18 games.
Starter Gavin Floyd, one of the lone bright spots for Chicago during the first month of the season, lost to fall to 3-2 on the year after having won consecutive starts. He allowed six runs in six innings.
Luke Scott went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a homer for the Orioles.
