Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat trick and Real 1 over Osasuna on Sunday at the Bernabeu remain atop Spain's La Liga.

Ronaldo scored all three goals inside 58 minutes and has 13 goals already this season. Karim Benzema fired a brace, while Gonzalo Higuain added his 11th goal of the season and Pepe his first for Madrid's other goals.

Real opened its lead over Barcelona ahead of the international break to three points, as its title rival settled for a 2-2 draw against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

Ronaldo opened the scoring off a header in the 23rd minute and, after Ibrahima Balde tied the game in the 31st for Osasuna, Barca responded with six straight goals.

Pepe scored in the 34th and Higuain in the 40th, as Real's lead was 3-1 before halftime. Ronaldo opened the second half with a penalty in the 54th, and added his third off another header in the 58th.

Benzema came off the bench to add goals in the 63rd and 81st, as Real cruised to another win, its ninth through 11 games in Spain. Osasuna sits on 14 points from 11 games, half the total of Madrid.

Athletic Bilbao 2, Barcelona 2

Bilbao, Spain - Lionel Messi scored in stoppage time as Barcelona escaped the San Mames with a 2-2 draw against 10-man Athletic Bilbao on Sunday in La Liga.

Bilbao led in each half, the first time after Ander Herrera scored in the 20th minute and again after Gerard Pique's own goal in the 80th. But Cesc Fabregas answered the first goal, and Messi the second with his 14th goal this season.

Barcelona extended its season-long unbeaten streak to 11 games but lost ground on Real Madrid, which beat Osasuna 7-1 on Sunday. Barca is three points behind first-place Real in second place.

Athletic Bilbao picked up its 14th point of the season as its it extended its unbeaten streak to seven matches, but it's still 14 points behind Real Madrid.

Real Zaragoza 2, Sporting Gijon 2

Zaragoza, Spain - Helder Postiga scored 3 minutes into stoppage time and Real Zaragoza earned a 2-2 draw against Sporting Gijon on Sunday at the Estadio La Romareda in La Liga.

Alberto Botia's own goal handed Zaragoza the lead just before the half-hour mark, but a brace from David Barral before half put Gijon in front. Postiga rescued a point deep in stoppage time with his fourth goal of the season.

Zaragoza snapped a three-game losing streak, but is still winless in four, and Gijon extended its unbeaten streak to four games after its second straight tie following a pair of wins.

Rayo Vallecano 4, Real Sociedad 0

Madrid, Spain - Michu scored twice as Ray Vallecano won for the third time in its last four, 4-0 over 10-man Real Sociedad on Sunday at Teresa Rivero in La Liga.

Inigo Martinez was sent off after 11 minutes, and Piti converted a penalty in the 12th that sparked Rayo's win. Michu added both his goals early after half and Roberto Trashorras capped the win.

Vallecano is eighth with 15 points from 11 games, while Sociedad dropped its third in a row, lost for the sixth time in its last seven, and is just one off the bottom.

Getafe 3, Atletico Madrid 2

Getafe, Spain - Diego Castro converted a penalty in the 83rd minute as 10-man Getafe edged Atletico Madrid, 3-2, on Sunday at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez to move off the bottom of the La Liga standings.

Falco handed Atletico Madrid the lead from the spot following the sending off of Alberto Lopo on the half-hour mark, but Abdelaziz Barrada and Michel scored and, after Alvaro Dominguez Soto scored for Madrid, Castro bagged the winner.

Getafe ended a five-game winless streak to surge from 20th to 14th, and Madrid lost for the second time in its last three and is 15 points behind first-place Real Madrid.

Espanyol 0, Villarreal 0

Barcelona, Spain - Espanyol held on for a 0-0 draw after Juan Forlin was sent off with 15 minutes left in normal time at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, as the Barcelona-based club tied for the first time this season in La Liga.

Villarreal posted its fifth draw of the season as it continues to search for a good stretch of form, and has just 11 points from 11 matches in Spain.

Espanyol is 12 points behind leader Real Madrid in seventh, and Villarreal is 17 points back in the bottom half of the standings.

Granada 0, Racing 0

Granada, Spain - Racing extended its unbeaten streak to three games with a 0-0 draw against Granada at the Los Carmenes on Sunday in La Liga.

Both sides are struggling this season, and used the point to climb two points off the bottom of the standings.
