Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - A goal in each half from Cristiano Ronaldo guided Real Madrid to a comfortable 4-0 win over Osasuna at the Bernabeu on Saturday, keeping the pressure on leaders Atletico Madrid.
Ronaldo scored after six minutes to put the hosts in front and he added a second goal shortly after the break before further goals from Sergio Ramos and Daniel Carvajal to move Real to within three points of Atletico.
The loss continues a poor run of form for Osasuna, which has won just once in its last 10 games and resides three points above the relegation places.
Ronaldo made sure his side started well when he took a pass from Angel Di Maria and curled the ball into the upper right corner of the net for a 1-0 Real advantage.
That scoreline remained the same until the second half despite some heavy pressure from Real, but Ronaldo doubled the lead in the 52nd with a brilliant strike from 20 yards that flew past goalkeeper Andres Fernandez and into the top corner.
Eight minutes later, Ramos made it 3-0 when he got to the front of the net and turned a header past Fernandez from Di Maria's cross.
Real was coasting at the that point and added a fourth goal seven minutes from time with Isco's cross being nodded home by Carvajal.
Getafe's survival hopes improved with a 1-0 win over Malaga thanks to a seventh-minute goal from Adrian Colunga that moves the club three points above the drop zone, Rayo Vallecano scored three goals in the second half of a 3-0 win at 10-man Granada, while Real Betis was assured of being relegated following a 1-0 home defeat to Real Sociedad thanks to a second-half penalty kick from Carlos Vela.
