Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Cristiano Ronaldo could miss the next three weeks for Real Madrid after sustaining a thigh injury in his team's 5-0 league victory over Almeria on Saturday.
Ronaldo scored just three minutes into the match to give Madrid an early lead, marking his 17th goal in 14 league matches this term.
But the Portugal international had to be substituted early in the second half, and Madrid released a statement on Monday saying tests have been conducted by the team.
"After X-ray tests carried out today on our player Cristiano Ronaldo by Real Madrid's medical services, an injury in his left thigh was detected," the statement read. "[His return to action] depends on the evolution of the injury."
According to reports in Spain, Ronaldo will be out for Madrid's Champions League match with Galatasaray on Wednesday as well as the next La Liga game against Valladolid on Nov. 30.
