The Colorado Rockies placed pitcher Tyler Chatwood on the 15-day disabled list and selected the contract of pitcher Jeff Manship from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Chatwood, who was Thursday's scheduled starter, was scratched with right elbow inflammation. The right-hander is 7-4 with a 3.15 ERA in 15 starts this season.

With Chatwood out, the Rockies will turn to Manship, who went 6-8 with a 4.85 in 24 games (17 starts) with Colorado Springs this season. He will make his first big league start since 2010 with the Minnesota Twins.

Additionally, the Rockies recalled and placed pitcher Christian Friedrich on the 60-day DL with lower back inflammation.
