San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams and punt returner Trindon Holliday have been selected as the AFC's top players for Week 2 of the NFL season.

Rivers, who threw for 419 yards on 36-of-47 passing with three touchdowns -- all to Eddie Royal, was 4-of-5 for 48 yards on the Chargers' final drive before Nick Novak booted through a go-ahead 46-yard field goal with seven seconds left to lift San Diego past Philadelphia, 33-30, on Sunday.

Rivers was just 1-of-7 for eight yards with an interception in the fourth quarter against Houston Monday, but was 12-of-16 for 113 yards in the final frame against Philly.

Williams totaled 4 1/2 sacks and six tackled in the Bills' 24-23 win over the Carolina Panthers. His sack total was the most in a game since Aldon Smith tallied 5 1/2 on Nov. 19, 2012.

Holliday returned four punts for 121 yards, which included an 81-yard touchdown in Denver's 41-23 triumph over the New York Giants.

Others considered for the offensive award were Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco, who completed 22-of-33 passes (66.7 percent) for 211 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' 14-6 win over Cleveland, Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace, who had nine receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown in Miami's 24-20 triumph over the Indianapolis Colts and Bills rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel, who tossed the game-winning score and was 27-of-39 for 296 yards and a touchdown in Buffalo's 24-23 last-second win over the Carolina Panthers.

Defensive consideration went to Houston linebacker Brian Cushing, who racked up two sacks and 11 tackles in the Texans' 30-24 overtime win over the Tennessee Titans, Kansas City nose tackle Dontari Poe, who had four tackles and two sacks in the Chiefs' 17-16 victory over Dallas, and Baltimore linebacker Daryl Smith, who registered 11 tackles, 1 1/2 sacks and two passes defensed.

Special Teams consideration went to San Diego kicker Chris Novak, who booted through four field goals,and Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski, who also nailed four field goals.
