DAVIS, Calif. – Josh Ritchart scored 21 points and Corey Hawkins added 20 to lead UC Davis over San Jose State 70-56 on Wednesday night.
Ritchart scored 14 points in the first half as UC Davis built a 31-21 halftime lead. The Aggies opened the second half on a 10-0 run and led by double digits the rest of the way. Ritchart was 7 of 14 from the field with four 3-pointers and eight rebounds. Hawkins finished on 7-of-11 shooting. Avery Johnson and Darius Graham each had four assists for UC Davis (6-0).
UC Davis never trailed, and is off to its best start in more than a century — since the 1912-13 season, when they played just eight games to finish 7-1. It is the first victory over San Jose State since the 1974-75 season.
