Verona, Italy – Luca Rigoni's goal five minutes before the interval proved to be the winner on Saturday as Chievo Verona held on for a 2-1 victory over Udinese at the Stadio M.A. Bentegodi.
Things started poorly for the hosts as Udinese grabbed the lead in the first minute of play through a goal from Maicosuel.
But Chievo responded 12 minutes later as Sergio Pellissier put one in the back of the net to put the sides on level terms early in the match.
Udinese controlled much of the run of play, keeping 65 percent of the ball and firing 14 attempts toward goal, but all the possession went for naught when Rigoni collected a nice feed from Alberto Paloschi and fired it into the upper 90 to give his club the lead.
Udinese pushed for an equalizer throughout the second half, but it never materialized as the hosts came away with all three points.
Cagliari 2, Sampdoria 2
Cagliari, Italy - Lorenzo De Silvestri rescued a point for his side with an equalizing goal in stoppage time on Saturday as Sampdoria managed a 2-2 stalemate with Cagliari at the Stadio Sant'Elia.
Cagliari snagged the opening goal in the 26th minute through Albin Ekdal, and it appeared it would hold up as the winner as the clock ticked into second-half stoppage time, but Manolo Gabbiadini equalized for Sampdoria in the 89th minute.
In the first minute of stoppage time, Daniele Conti scored what would surely be the winner for Cagliari, but again Sampdoria had an answer in dramatic fashion as De Silvestri's tally came in the third minute of injury time to save a point for Sampdoria.
Genoa 0, Livorno 0
Genoa, Italy - Genoa extended its unbeaten streak in Serie A to a modest two matches on Saturday after settling for a point in a scoreless draw with Livorno at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
Genoa carried the play for much of the 90 minutes and kept 57 percent of the ball while firing four shots on target, but unable to find a breakthrough. Livorno also put four shots on target, but never threatened the Genoa goal as the clubs were forced to settle for a point apiece.
The result sees Livorno up to sixth place in the table with seven points from its first four matches, while Genoa sits in 13th place with four points.
