Rice University marching band mocks Baylor over sexual assault scandal

Rice didn't beat Baylor on the football field when the two Texas schools met Friday night. But that didn't stop the school's marching band from having a little fun at their rival's expense during halftime.

The Marching Owl Band mocked Baylor for the multiple sexual assault allegations that rocked the program earlier this year. The furor led to the firing of head coach Art Briles, as well as the demotion, and the eventual resignation, of university president Ken Starr.

After mocking Baylor's bear mascot with a little help from Fozzie Bear of Muppets fame, the Marching Owl Band's (MOB for short) announcer ramped up the awkwardness, intoning "There are nine judges on the Supreme Court or is it?"

At that point, the band formed the Roman numeral IX, a reference to the federal law Baylor is accused of violating in the sexual assault scandal.

With some Rice fans chanting "Title IX!" the MOB moved into a star formation while playing "Hit the Road, Jack," a reference to Starr.

Briles was in the stands for the game, sitting behind the Baylor bench about 20 rows up from the field. Briles' son, Kendal, is still the Bears' offensive coordinator.

No. 21 Baylor won the game, 38-10.
