The New England Revolution named Jay Miller assistant coach on Thursday.

Miller is a long-time manager and talent evaluator for U.S. Soccer and at the college level. He has more than 30 years of coaching and player evaluation experience.

"I knew I wanted to bring a highly experienced, tactically-minded coach, and in Jay, he's a coach who's coached at - and succeeded at - every level of the game with a wide range of players," first-year Revolution boss Jay Heaps said.

"I believe he'll provide a solid foundation for our team, both on the practice field and in games."

New England also named Nick Downing its first strength and conditioning coach. Heaps' search process for a second assistant coach is still on-going.
