INDIANAPOLIS – Reserved seats for this year's Indianapolis 500 are sold out.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles made the announcement Friday on the steps of the state capitol, surrounded by Gov. Mike Pence, Mayor Joe Hogsett and Hulman Motorsports vice president of events Allison Melangton.
Speedway officials do not release exact attendance figures, but Boles estimated that a little less than 250,000 tickets have been sold for the 100th running of the iconic race, which is scheduled for May 29.
Boles says the it's the first time in recent memory that the race has been a sellout and believes the race-day atmosphere will be similar to that of the late 1980s or early 1990s.
Fans who would like to attend the race still can buy general admission tickets for the infield.
