Report: Suns' Beasley booked for pot possession
Scottsdale, AZ – Phoenix Suns forward Michael Beasley was reportedly arrested early Tuesday morning and could be facing charges on drug possession.
According to multiple media outlets, including USA Today, Beasley was arrested early Tuesday morning for a traffic violation in Scottsdale.
Officers searched Beasley's vehicle after smelling marijuana coming from the car and confiscated narcotics located near the driver area, according to the Scottsdale Police Department.
Beasley was arrested and released from custody after being cited for investigation of one felony count each of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The former second overall pick has had issues with marijuana in the past, acknowledging that while playing for Miami, he twice violated the NBA's drug policy and entered a treatment facility in 2009. He was ticketed for possessing marijuana and speeding in a Minneapolis suburb in 2011 as well.
Beasley is no stranger to run-ins with the law, having been investigated by police earlier this year in regards to an alleged sexual assault that took place at his home back in January.
The 24-year-old averaged career lows in points (10.1) and rebounds (3.1) over 75 games (20 starts) last season, his first with the Suns.
