Tim Lincecum will reportedly have no need to say goodbye to his teammates at the end of the season.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, the Giants are interested in re-signing Lincecum when his contract expires after the season, and he is interested in returning to the team as well.
"The interest is mutual and strong to re-sign Lincecum," the report reads.
Lincecum, who won Cy Young Awards with the Giants in 2008 and 2009, is in the midst of recovering from an arthroscopic surgery on his left hip, which he hopes will rejuvenate his waning career.
Despite the uncertainty about Lincecum's future on the mound, the Giants are reportedly intent on keeping him in San Francisco.
"It's more a matter of when, how much and in what form, rather than if," the report reveals.
Due to an injury-shortened season, Lincecum only made 15 starts for the Giants this season, holding a 7-4 record with a 4.13 ERA and .260 opponent batting average.
