Montbeliard, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Herve Renard has quit his post as Zambia coach to take charge of Sochaux, it was announced Monday.

"Herve Renard has been released from the job of Zambia national coach," the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) said in a statement. "He has been offered a wonderful opportunity at Sochaux. FAZ and Herve have consulted and it has been agreed not to stand in his way.

"It is a compliment for a coach working in Africa to be head-hunted by a European club. It makes us proud to take ownership of Herve's rise."

Renard, who has enjoyed two spells as Zambia coach, guided the nation to the quarterfinals of the African Cup of Nations in 2010.

He faces a stern test at Sochaux as the club is second from bottom in Ligue 1 on five points.
