The Washington Redskins have ruled out safety Reed Doughty for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos because of lingering effects of a concussion.

The Redskins said Saturday that Doughty did not make the trip with the team to Denver.

Doughty was injured in last week's win over Chicago. He was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but did not practice on Friday.

Doughty's absence leaves the Redskins without both starting safeties as they face Peyton Manning and the Broncos. Brandon Meriweather was suspended one game by NFL for helmet-to-helmet hits against the Bears.
