Redskins rookie safety Phillip Thomas out for year with foot injury, hurt in preseason opener
RICHMOND, Va. – Washington Redskins safety Phillip Thomas will miss his rookie season with a foot injury.
Coach Mike Shanahan said Tuesday that Thomas will have surgery on a torn ligament in the left foot.
Thomas will require four to five months of recovery and will be placed on injured reserve.
Thomas is a fourth-round pick from Fresno State. He was injured in last week's preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans.
