Cincinnati Reds rookie shortstop Zack Cozart was hit on the helmet by a pitch from Chad Billingsley in the fifth inning of Monday's 8-2 win against the Dodgers.

With two outs, Billingsley's 89 mph fastball caromed off the top portion of Cozart's helmet. Cozart remained on the ground for a brief moment until medical personnel attended to him. Cozart walked off the field under his own power and was pinch-run for by Wilson Valdez.

Cozart suffered a mild concussion and will be evaluated Tuesday.

In 75 games this season, Cozart is hitting .250 with eight homers and 16 RBI.

Selected in the second round of the 2007 draft by Cincinnati, the 26-year-old Cozart hit .324 with two homers in 11 games for the Reds last year.
